Business and Entrepreneurship Skills Training

This program provides potential and current NWT entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge necessary to start and run their own businesses.

Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30, and a resident of the Northwest Territories.

Applications close: Sept 7, 2020

There is no charge for this training. You will be expected to complete self-directed assignments in addition to attending all the live webinars. Participants will be offered a training allowance and a laptop with internet connection.

Applications are now being received and priority will be given to those demonstrating merit and need.

Week 1: Monday to Friday, Sept 14 to 18, 2020

Session 1 – Introductions, Entrepreneurship Overview

Session 2 – Market Research (with 30 min. Social Media Expert presenting)

Session 3 – Competitors, Competition and Competitive Advantage

Session 4 – Marketing (with 30 min. Social Media Expert presenting)

Session 5 – Operations: Laws and Insurance and Risk Management

Week 2: Monday to Friday, Sept 21 to 25, 2020

Session 6 – Tax, Suppliers, the Hired Help, Process and Capability, Professional Advisors, Financial Institutions

Session 7 – Funding: Where will you get the Money?

Session 8 - NWT Funders forum: guest speakers

Session 9 – Financials: Personal Budget and Net Worth

Session 10 – Financials: Costs and Pricing 

Week 3: Monday to Friday, Sept 28 to 29

Session 11 – Financials: Start Up and Cash Flow.

Session 12 - Review of Financials, and Q & A from participants
